I’ve posted a detailed Convict Conditioning Review. Please check it out under Best Workout Routines.
“How to Bust Free of All Weakness—Using the Lost Secrets of Supreme Survival Strength”
How Do YOU Stack up Against the 6 Ultimate Measures of a TRUE Man?
According to the tenets of Convict Conditioning a TRUE man can achieve:
1. AT LEAST one set of 5 one-arm pushups each side—with the ELITE goal of 100 sets each side
2. AT LEAST one set of 5 one-leg squats each side—with the ELITE goal of 2 sets of 50 each side
3. AT LEAST one set of 1 one-arm pullups each side—with the ELITE goal of 2 sets of 6 each side
4. AT LEAST one set of 5 hanging straight leg raises—with the ELITE goal of 2 sets of 30
5. AT LEAST one set of 1 stand-to-stand bridges—with the ELITE goal of 2 sets of 30
6. AT LEAST one set of 1 one-arm handstand pushups—with the ELITE goal of 1 set of 5
Well, how DO you stack up?

How do I stack up? I am an absolute wimp … Can any humans do that test?
Wow thats tough training but now you put it out there I love a challenge so I’m going to have a look at your program a but deeper.
Raymond
Raymond,
I’m in the wimp category right now too! I’m going to see how far I can get over the next 2 months. The good thing is that it’s all progressive training so the program assumes you can’t even do a pushup or pullup and teaches you how to achieve the above feats (although only 3% will accomplish those goals).
Dave
Wow,
I’m pretty sure that I would be in the wimp category too! I am interested in what you think of this program, though. It has a catchy name! I will check out your review tonight.
I know that we aren’t supposed to take the term “true man” literally, but I think being a true man means being a functional person in society, taking care of your family (especially kids), and trying not to be a convict! Hopefully, I never become one, but I guess if I do, it would be good to be able to do some one arm push ups to show off to all of my convict friends!
Kelly,
I agree with your definition of true man…and one of the faults I find in this book is that prison is somewhat glorified, although the author isn’t exactly proud of his time spent in prison.
Dave
I adore this book, well done for spreading the word about it! But I should point out that all the “true man! bull isn’t in the book at all! That’s just in the ad by dragon door. The book itself is nowhere near so ego based or flashy…just amazing training ideas. Fixed my shoulder, put 2 inches on my arms and upped my bench. It rocks!
BW Guy,
Glad you’ve had success with Convict Conditioning. I agree that the book isn’t overdone with the real man stuff although the author does make clear his thoughts on the uselessness of bodybuilder’s big but non-functional muscles. Frankly, I agree completely!
Dave
Dave & BW Guy-
I agree. This book is pretty awesome.
I hurt my shoulder about 6 months ago and couldn’t do ONE pushup!
After following the programs in CC semi regularly for several months, (and adding in some supplemental shoulder rehab exercises), my shoulder is healthier and stronger than ever. Now I am working on handstand pushups.
Honestly, this book could help anyone to safely get stronger, from a 12 year old kid to a 70 year old grandmother.

Ian,
I’ve heard that bodyweight training can be pretty effective for rehab (more so than trying to lift too heavy). Good to hear the shoulder is healthy and that you’re on your way to handstand pushups. You’re right that anyone can use this program…no matter your level of fitness or experience.
